Mount Hood Meadows

Jon come out from Vermont for business in Portland and we decided to head down to Mount Hood area. We spent three days at Mount Hood Meadows, and while the weather never fully cooperated, eight inches of heavy snow on Saturday provided our best turns. I wanted to spend a day at Ski Bowl, but it wasn't even open, which goes show what kind of year we are having...

This was my first time to Meadows and we quickly found that Lower Heather Canyon had some of the best terrain. Cascade lift finally opened on Monday, but I was somewhat disappointed with the terrain off of Cascade (Cascade into Heather Canyon was closed). We did one run in the Private Reserve and while the lower elevation meant the snow was heavy, we found some fun turns below S&R cliffs. But it's a long ways back to the lift, especially for snowboarders.
