Kendall Ridge

I had high hopes for the tour a couple of days before. But in talking with Erik and Tim, I realized conditions had rapidly deteriorated and this was likely going to be an exploration tour, rather than a tour focused on skiing.
Arriving at Yellowstone road, my suspicions were confirmed. The delectable powder earlier in the week was covered with a thin rain crust. Unfortunately, it was just the right depth where it was debatable on whether or not it would hold on a turn.
We skinned up to Kendall Ridge while a storm system moved in, and at the Ridge, determined a ski down the Eastern Slope of Kendall into Silver Creek Basin wasn't in the cards. Cautious turns led us back into the basin above Commonwealth, where we had a short climb back the Kendall Clearcut. We were able to find some decent turns where the crust was thick enough, but it definitely was a day for exploration and not turns...
