The North Cascades has a birthday tour, and now Snoqualmie Pass has one. Trevor persuaded me for an attempt on Alta for his birthday and after a headlamp start at Gold Creek, and a long boot traverse across Alta Ridge, we were standing at the Summit, trying to catch a glimpse through the clouds of the descent down the North Face. Finally, we locked in, and cautiously started making our way down, and lucked into a aesthetic line. We descended below the clouds and with good visibility were able to get some great turns. The snow was a mixed bag, with some nice light fluff, and wind effected depending on the aspect. At the bottom, we made the long, painful slog out the Valley. The only thing missing, was a couple of ostriches to carry us home...
