Chair Peak Coolies

I meet Stefan and Will at the Alpental parking lot with ambitions of skiing Kaleetan Peak, but the weather was looking iffy. We made our way to Source Lake, up and over Bryant and had a challenging ski down to Melakwa Lakes. We conversed for a good bit on whether or not to press on to Kaleetan, and we all decided that with poor visibility and increasing snow, it wasn't the right day for it. When skinned up the valley, and Will mentioned there was a nice little couloir to ski down to Chair Peak Lake.

A little bootpacking latter, and we were standing above a nice run, that skied reasonably well. At the bottom, Stefan eyed a nice looking couloir across the valley, and was instantly smitten. Not wanting to lose her in the fog, he took off, and we followed. There was 6" of snow sitting on top some crust, but we were able to get some decent turns in the tight coluoir and made out way back to the car, content with the circumnavigation of Chair Peak.
